Alfred Allen Massingale, 80, passed away on December 14, 2021, at his home in Sedro-Woolley.  He was born on June 20, 1941, in Sylva, North Carolina, the son of Vernon and Myrtle (Jones) Massingale.

Al moved to the Birdsview area with his family in 1954 where he attended Concrete High School.  He served in the Army in the early sixties and was stationed in Ft. Carson, Colorado.  After the Army, he worked in the logging industry, driving truck for several companies, including B.A. Van de Grift, before going to work at Janicki Logging, where he worked until he retired.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting with his dogs and fishing the Skagit River.  In his later years, he enjoyed playing bluegrass music with several groups around the area, long drives and camping trips with his partner Shirley and caring for Shirley's two greatgrandchildren.

Al is survived by four siblings, Lillian Wortham, Eldon Massingale, Herman Massingale, and Linda Shaffer; two children, Trisha (Massingale) Pearson and Russell Massingale; a son-in-law, Don Pearson; daughter-in-law, Jamie O'Donnell; two grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Pearson; his longtime partner, Shirley Hyatt, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Myrtle Massingale; four siblings, brother, JT Massingale, sister, Marie Little, sister, Olleen Massingale, who passed in childhood, and brother, Denver Massingale.

He was a kind man and a wonderful, caring father, and he will be greatly missed.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, Hamilton Cemetery with Pastor Jim Cannon officiating.  Please share your memories of Al and sign the online guest register.
