Arthur 'Art' Lawrence Miller, age 88, of Burlington, Washington, passed away at home March 21, 2023. He was the devoted husband of Shirley and loving father of Steven, Susanne, and Sally. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Arthur was born July 7, 1934, in Corvallis, Oregon to Seeley and Veda Miller. He was the youngest of three children. The family relocated to Sedro-Woolley soon after Art was born. He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1952. He met his wife, Shirley, in high school and they married in 1953 after she graduated.
He had numerous jobs over the years including the logging industry, Darigold milk delivery driver, Nalley's truck driver and retired from Skagit Valley Trucking in 1994. He was a lifelong member of the Wildcat Steelhead Club, Teamsters, Jaycees, and Elks. He was also an active member of The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the AARC car club. Art was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed fishing the Skagit River and goose hunting in Canada. He and Shirley enjoyed boating in the San Juans, RVing cross country and numerous trips to Alaska. After retirement, their winters were spent in Yuma, AZ. He immensely enjoyed his antique car collection and travels to car shows, where he won numerous awards.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Steve (Sue) Miller, Susanne (Larry) Bennett, Sally (Bob) Carlson; five grandchildren, four great- grandchildren; sister, Mary Henderson; brother-in-law, Danny (Avis) Ziebell; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Miller; sisters in law, Ethel Miller and Laurene Brendle; brothers in law, John Brendle and Bob Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sedro-Woolley High School Alumni Foundation, 16614 Kamb Road, Mt. Vernon, WA 98273-8146 or the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Share your memories of Art and sign the online guest register.
