Arthur Samuel Nations (known to many as Sam), 86, a longtime resident of Clear Lake, Washington, passed away on February 6, 2022, following a period of declining health.

He was born on February 13, 1935, in Jackson County, North Carolina to Charlie and Mae (Dills) Nations. In 1953, he moved to Darrington, WA, where he worked at the mill. During that time, he met his wife, Helen Ammons at the Clear Lake Beach. They were married on June 25, 1958. They later had two sons and made their home in Clear Lake.

Arthur served in the United States Army. Following his service in the Army, he worked at Everett Plywood. In 1962, he started work as a mechanic at Bidwell Towing in Mount Vernon. He later took over the business as Nations Auto Repair, where he worked until he retired. Following his retirement, he continued mechanic work from his home, helping anyone that needed it.

Arthur is survived by sons, Steve (Nancy) Nations of Clear Lake and Robert (Lisa) Nations of Sedro-Woolley; grandchildren, Lisa (Brandon) Hoyle of Clear Lake, Kaylee (Ashley) Lamphiear of Sedro-Woolley, and Shayla Nations of Summerdale, Alabama; Gheorghe Gurley of Clear Lake; great-grandchildren, Brandon Hoyle Jr., Brilee Hoyle, Lilly Gurley, and William Gurley, all of Clear Lake, and Charlotte Davis of Summerdale, Alabama; brothers, Paul Nations of Greenville, South Carolina, Edward Nations, Johnny Nations and Roger Nations, all of Whittier, North Carolina; sisters, Patsy Haynes, Margaret Nations, Eula Mae Denny, Peggy Gibson and Rebecca Nations, all of Whittier, North Carolina; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Nations; father, Charlie Nations; mother, Mae Nations; and brother, James Nations.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00, Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Clear Lake Cemetery, with Pastor Roy Swihart officiating.
