Beverly Joan (Kelbach) Hagan, 82, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away March 9, 2021, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.  Beverly was born June 27, 1938, to Walter and Addie Kelbach in Anacortes, Washington.  Beverly was married to Robert Hagan July 14, 1956.

Beverly was a much beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, cousin and aunt.  She attended schools in Anacortes, and Sedro-Woolley, and enjoyed opportunities to sing in school choirs, church and community events.  She was very much loved by her parents and was joined by a baby sister, Karen, in 1949.  She attended Canyonville Bible Academy in Canyonville, Oregon, during her high school years, graduating in 1956.

She served the community by becoming a licensed practical nurse through Skagit Valley College in 1967, while raising four children, and she interned for her license by working at Northern State Hospital, and later was a nurse for Dr. Richard Gross in Sedro-Woolley.  She was a loving, caring and compassionate person, always ready to comfort you, and care for you.  She also worked in clinics, hospitals and nursing homes in the Kirkland, Bellevue, and Seattle, Washington areas, and later in California.  One of her memories was that of accidentally dumping a tray of urine samples on actor, John Wayne when he was at the Public Health Hospital in Seattle (where she was working.)  He was in the building making the film 'McQ' in 1974.  He was very kind to Bev over the accident and invited the family to come watch filming the next day.

In later years, she worked as a hostess at the Farmhouse Inn, and as a perfume counter salesperson for the Bon Marche, (later Macy's) in Burlington, Washington, where she received many sales awards and had many happy customers.  Beverly loved to shop and enjoyed looking her best and going out for special occasions.

Beverly was known for her outgoing and friendly personality.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age, and for many years faithfully attended Anacortes Assembly of God, and Bethel Assembly of God in Sedro-Woolley.  She had a beautiful singing voice and was often singing in church trios and church choirs.  She loved to laugh and joke, enjoyed travel and could also play the piano a bit.  She was able to travel on cruises with her husband, and a highlight of her life was a trip in the 1990's to visit her daughter and son-in-law and family who were serving as missionaries in South Africa.

She was a fabulous cook, and for many years she oversaw the meals for seniors that were held at Bethel Assembly of God every month.

Beverly spent many years in Michigan following her retirement, living with her husband in the home of her oldest son.  Following the death of her husband, she continued to live in Michigan, enjoying attending Grand Rapids First Assembly of God, and working in the kitchen for church functions.

She returned to her beloved Skagit Valley in 2018, and bravely faced a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.  She lived at The Cottages at University Place since October 2018, where she felt loved and accepted and was well-cared for.  She never lost her sweet spirit.  When family would visit, she might not remember your name, but she could sing any hymn or Christian song, her favorite being Gaither music, and especially the song, 'Because He Lives.'

Beverly is survived by her sister, Karen and Gary Wirta, of Crescent Bar, WA, daughter, Terri and husband, Jim Cannon of Sedro-Woolley, son, Doug and wife, Patti Hagan of Wyoming, Michigan, son, Scott and wife, Karen Hagan of Sacramento, California, and daughter, Jill and husband, Tom Douglass of Sedro-Woolley; grandchildren, Ben and Kathy Cannon, Stephanie and Chuck Cannon-Steinhilber, Andrea and Jason Ross, Samuel Cannon, Jessica Cannon, Nathan Cannon, Jason and Amber Hagan, Marlana and Jarrod Ward, Laura and Michael Houde, Joslyn and Marcello Do Valle, Tyler and Nicole Hagan, Kramer and Becky Hagan, Spencer and Brianna Hagan, Drew and Ashley Douglass, Alaina Douglass and Austin Douglass; great-grandchildren, Jada, Jaeshawn, Jarron, Ari and Asja Cannon, Liam, Ian and Dillon Ross, Xavier Hagan, Ashley, Jordyn, Kennedy, Delilah, and Vincent Ward, Lilly and Isaiah Gakwandi, Michael Jr, Theodore and Joseph Houde, Elias and Gemma Hagan, Eli, Zachariah, Lydia and Jonah Hagan, Spencer Jr. and Emerson Hagan, and Olivia and Tessa Do Valle and Nasir Ward; nephew, Greg Wirta of Bellevue, WA; cousin, Dale Young, of Georgia.

She was preceded in death her husband, Robert in 2004; grandchild, Mia Grace Cannon in 2008; niece, Monica Wirta in 2009.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the caring staff of The Cottages at University Place in Tacoma, Washington, for the loving care of their mom in her last days.
