Obituary

Bonnie Doan December 19, 1937 – October 5, 2025

Bonnie Doan passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Seattle on December 19, 1937, Bonnie was the fifth of six children of Ben and Hilda Cranefield. She was raised in the family home on Burke Avenue, on the site that is now North Seattle College. A proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1956, Bonnie went on to earn a degree in education from Washington State University in 1961, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college.

While attending WSU, she was introduced on a blind date to a young engineering and ROTC student, Tom Doan. That meeting blossomed into a marriage in 1959 and a partnership that endured for 67 years. Following Tom's Army service at Fort Ord, California, the couple moved north in their VW Beetle with their growing family and settled in Sedro-Woolley, where they built a warm and loving home.

Bonnie had a deep love for her family and a lifelong dedication to learning and service. She enjoyed genealogy, sewing, gardening, camping, holidays, and beach trips. In 1980, she helped found the local literacy council and devoted herself to teaching English as a Second Language demonstrating her enduring passion for education and support for immigrant communities.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Tom; her children, John and Debbie who provided her with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of services, the family encourages donations to a charity of your choice in Bonnie's memory.
