Bonnie Jill
Gifford
Dec 9, 1968 — Feb 4, 2026
Bonnie Jill Gifford, 57, affectionately known to all as Jill, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Jill was born on December 9, 1968, and married to Douglas Gifford on April 19, 2006.
Jill lived a life defined by her unwavering faith and a profound, lifelong gift for music. Raised in Mount Vernon, Jill was the beloved daughter of Richard and Judith Cornwell. Her musical journey began at the age of five when she first shared her voice in the church choir at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Music was not just a hobby for Jill; it was her primary form of worship. In junior high, she added the violin to her repertoire, but her true passion flourished in voice and piano.
After graduating from Mount Vernon High School, Jill attended Skagit Valley College for two years. Jill's talents led her to Azusa Pacific University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. While at APU, Jill toured the US and Europe with the Continental Singers. Throughout her life, she found immense joy in leading others into the presence of God through song and served as a dedicated pianist for Burlington First Baptist Church.
Of all the roles Jill cherished, being Charlie's mom meant the most. He was her greatest blessing, and she embraced motherhood with tenderness, protection, and constant encouragement. Whether cheering him on or sharing quiet moments, she made sure he always felt loved. Their bond rooted in trust, humor, faith, and music was not just something she treasured; It defined who she was.
A devoted wife and mother, Jill is survived by her husband, Doug Gifford, and their son, Charlie Gifford at their family home in Burlington. She is also survived by her parents, Rich and Judy Cornwell, and her siblings: Tim (and Lynn) Cornwell, Steve (and Susanna) Cornwell, and Carla Cornwell. Her memory will also be cherished by her numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church, 831 E Washington Ave, Burlington, WA, with Pastor Mahlon Hull officiating. In the melody of our memories, Jill's song will play on forever.
