Obituary

Burl E. Fox, 96, of Clear Lake, Washington, a cherished member of our family, has passed from here to heaven on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, WA. Burl was born in May of 1928 to Lyle and Dorothy (Hyatt) Fox in Clear Lake. He was the third of six children, LeLand "Lee" Charles, Lyle "Bob" Robert, Burl Eugene, Dorothy "Bev" Beverly, William "Bill" Stanley and Darlene Grace.

He attended school at the Baker Heights Elementary School as well as the Clear Lake Elementary School and Sedro-Woolley High School. Burl worked on their home farm on Fox Road in Clear Lake before enlisting in the Army and serving in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in September 1952. After being discharged he once again worked on the family farm, volunteered with the Brigade at Emmanuel Baptist Church and helped build the gym there also, he volunteered at the Clear Lake Fire Dept. and had other employment including driving school bus for Sedro-Woolley, Northern State Hospital and then Wallace's Potato Farm from which he retired.

Not letting retirement slow him down, he then raised sheep on the family farm with Nathan and Tammy. Burl appreciated receiving cards, letters, and pictures to put on his refrigerator from his friends and relatives. Burl enjoyed visiting his home with his friends and relatives. He also enjoyed hiking, camping, and birdwatching, and bringing his binoculars with him because he enjoyed being out in God's creation. When he was out, he would also look at rocks and pick up samples to see what minerals they might have in them.

Burl enjoyed breakfast with the guys on Thursdays. He had a great Passion and Love for God which was nurtured at the Sedro-Woolley First Baptist Church where he attended regularly, and he was a prayer warrior, praying for others constantly.

In his later years he loved his grandchildren, whether watching them play outside, or attending their events; he called them a blessing.

Burl is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children, as well as Nathan and Tammy; his "grandchildren" Zoe, Sophia, Noelle, David, Christopher, Elizabeth, Eliana, and Gabriella Mae.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Dorothy Bernice (Hyatt) Fox, as well as all of his siblings, LeLand "Lee" Charles, Lyle "Bob" Robert, Dorothy "Bev" Beverly, William "Bill" Stanley, and Darlene Grace.

A Memorial Service for Burl will be held at 11:00, Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
