Carolyn R. Counts, age 73, passed away on May 8, 2026, in Skagit Valley.  She was a  resident of Mount Vernon, Washington.

Born on June 20, 1952, in Sedro-Woolley, WA, to Lawrence Gray Buchanan and Ruth Mae Whitworth.  She spent several years working as a secretary for various manufacturing businesses.  Notably, she also ran Jim's Auto Repair in Snoqualmie for several years.  Over the decades, she called many places home, including Sedro-Woolley, Lyman, Issaquah, Kent and eventually Mount Vernon.

Family was the center of her world. She was an avid pet lover and found her greatest joy in spending time with her daughter, her grandchildren and her beloved animals.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Celeste Renee Newell; her grandchildren, Kyle Newell and Kaleb Pemberton; her brothers, Hank (Nancy) Buchanan of Cullowhee, NC and Larry (Jennifer) Buchanan of Cle Elum, WA; and her many beloved aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Ruth; her brothers, Robert Buchanan and Douglas L. Buchanan.

The family held a private visitation to honor her life.  A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Van Zandt Cemetery in Deming, WA.
