Lottie Overway, 93, passed away on February 9, 2024, at her home at Country Meadow Village in Sedro Woolley. She was born on December 7, 1930, in Bremerton, Washington to Howard and Olive Houser Routon. She spent her childhood in Blanchard, Edison and Bow, and grew up being part of a dairy farm family. Lottie vividly remembers her 11th Birthday, when the family learned of the attack on Pearl Harbor. She attended Edison Grade School and graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1949. During her junior year at BEHS, a handsome blonde curly-haired transfer student from Auburn High School caught her eye. The rest is history! Lottie and Gene Overway were married on September 9, 1950, and were married for 60 years until Gene's passing in 2011. In October 1951 their daughter, Patti Jean, was born, followed in September 1953 by a son, Jay Howard. Lottie worked at various jobs once the Overway kids were in school full time. To name a few, she worked as a clerk at Knutzen's Fine Fashions and Stowe's Shoes in Burlington. She retired from Security Pacific Bank (formerly National Bank of Commerce and now Bank of America) as a loan officer. After retirement, Gene and Lottie became snowbirds and spent several months a year in Yuma, Arizona, where they made friends from all over the U.S. and Canada. Lottie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gene Henry Overway, and her mother and father, Howard and Olive Routon. She was also predeceased by a beloved son-in-law, Joe Chambers. Lottie is survived by her daughter, Patti Chambers and her husband Jim Moore, and her son Jay and his wife Nanci, all of Bay View. Grandchildren include Noelle Jacobson (Jeff), Sarah Overway, Gena Gullette (Sam) and Lindsay Brown (Jordan). Great Grandchildren include MacKenzie Miranda (Hector), Hunter Jacobson (Maggie), Kannon Jacobson, Trapper Jacobson, Lilly Overway, Knute Brown, Olivia Gullette, Wyatt Gullette, and Beauden Gullette. She has two great-grandchildren, Ayla and Mateo Miranda. She is also survived by her brother, Lanny Routon and his wife Alice, together with several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Family was always the center of Lottie's life. At Lottie's request, there will be no memorial services. She asked for the family to celebrate her life later in the year with a BBQ and "lots of good food."
