Obituary

Cheryl Lynn Wiggins, 61, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 after a far too swift battle with esophageal cancer. Born on September 3, 1962 to Jim and Bonnie Haugo in Bellingham, Washington, Cheryl spent her life in the Pacific Northwest. She was married to Benjamin Wiggins on March 19, 1999. Cheryl graduated from Skagit Valley College with an associate degree in accounting in 1999. Cheryl changed careers multiple times throughout her life, most notably working as a consultant with Origami Owl where she made countless invaluable friends, but those who knew her best would say her number one job title was "Grandma."

Cheryl's hobbies included stamping, scrapbooking, collecting mugs, and spending time cracking jokes and quoting movies with her family. Cheryl was an active member in her church, playing piano on the worship team for several of the 30+ years she attended, and had a fierce love of and belief in God. The holidays were a favorite time for her, watching "The Ten Commandments" with family every Easter, fawning over her grandchildren's costumes at Halloween, and often hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Ben; children, Lance Cummings, Janelle (Michael) Balda, Colleen (Troy) Peterson; grandchildren, Ryon, Kelsi, Carter and Beckett; parents, Jim and Bonnie; sister, Sandra (Russell) Berkan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.

It cannot be overstated how much Cheryl lived her life for her children and grandchildren. Cheryl was known simply as "Mom" to every friend of her children, always providing transportation, help with school projects, and the best snacks for sleepovers. She went on every field trip, attended every choir/band concert and sporting event, and spent the last ten years providing childcare for her favorite little people so her daughters could pursue their respective careers. Cheryl's house was always open to friends and family, and she somehow always had whatever you needed on hand. Her devotion to and love for those she cared about was and will remain unmatched.

A Memorial service in honor of Cheryl will be held at 11:30,  Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Inspire Church in Sedro-Woolley. Please share your memories of Cheryl and sign the online guest register.
