Obituary

On Monday, May 20, 2024, Dale Cory Bowen, 73, departed this world to reunite with his beloved son, Matthew and his parents, Clark and Zora Bowen, embracing them once more in eternity.  Born in 1950 in Seattle, Washington, Dale's life was above all defined by continuous self-growth, an adept sense of humor, a passion for the creative arts, and a deep thirst for knowledge.  Dale and Catherine A. Bowen were married on June 13, 1970, and with great joy welcomed the birth of their first son, Cory.  Dale's call to serve led him to enlist in the Air Force, where he would embark on an eight-year journey as a Staff Sergeant.  Amidst the joys of new parenthood, their path led them to England, where their joy grew with the arrival of their daughter, Michele.  In time, they returned to the United States, where the birth of their youngest son, Matthew, would complete the family.  Eventually, the Bowens returned to their roots in Washington State, where Dale would embark on a new journey; committing over 30 years of dedication to the role of Delivery Supervisor for the United States Postal Service.  With an ever-sardonic sparkle in his eye, Dale was a sports devotee, a passionate music aficionado, a literary connoisseur, who particularly adored Science Fiction, and a caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, & friend.  He will be remembered as a craftsman of words and a writer of poems that exhibited his ability not only to look inward at the human soul but also to look outward in observation of the love and kindness of our world.

He is survived by his children, Cory Bowen and Michele Loften; siblings, Clark Bowen, Lynn Maas and Claudia Bowen; grandchildren, Connor, Chelsea, Chloe, Makaylyn, Landon, Evan and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Lyla, Cora, Charlotte, Cash, Memphis and one more on the way.

A Graveside Service honoring Dale's life will be held with full military honors at 1:30 pm, Friday, June 7, 2024, at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042.  A celebration of life will be held at a future date to honor and remember him.  Share your memories of Dale and sign the online guest register.
