Daniel James Ellis, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, with his loving wife by his side.

Daniel was born on July 1, 1955, in Orange City, Iowa, the son of James and Janice (VanGiles) Ellis. He was raised in the Lutheran Church and spent his youth involved in 4-H and playing football in school.

After graduating from high school in 1973, Dan enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War.

Dan met the love of his life, Linda, in 1972. He proposed in December of 1973, and they were married on May 11, 1974 at the age of 18. Together they shared a lifetime of love and partnership, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on May 11, 2024.

In 1990, Dan and Linda moved to South Dakota. In 1996, they began driving 18-wheelers for MCT in Sioux Falls, working for Kelly and Laura Seigh. Dan and Linda truly did everything together, driving as a team for many years and countless miles. In his later years, Dan drove for Chris Olson in Brady, South Dakota, before retiring from trucking in June of 2024.

Dan is survived by his wife, Linda Ellis; his father, James Ellis; his stepmother, Sandy Ellis; three sisters, Joe Elain (Bill) Rinker, Julie Wiseman, Bebe Linder; aunt, Barbara Cozad; and niece, Micheala Davis.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Davis-Ellis.

A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held at 11:00,  on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Inspire Church, located at 805 Township Street, Sedro-Woolley, WA. Following the service, friends and loved ones are invited to gather for lunch at Dan's favorite diner, Bonnie Jo's,  818 Metcalf Street, Sedro-Woolley, to continue sharing stories and memories.
