Obituary

Heaven's Gates received another angel home. On May 18, 2026, David W. Celestine of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, began a new journey as he passed peacefully in his sleep.

David was born on March 6, 1987, in Yakima, Washington, to Dennis W. Celestine and Sherrie L. Wells. He was an enrolled member of the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

David grew up in Yakima Valley and graduated with the Class of 2007 from Wapato High School. Throughout his life, David enjoyed staying active in his community. He held an organizing position through a school program, worked in customer service at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Florence, Oregon, volunteered with various food banks in Washington and Oregon, and was a member of The All-Aboard Club in Burlington, Washington.

David made many friends and touched even more hearts, always bringing love, joy, and laughter wherever he went. He had a gift for making people smile and loved playing tricks on those around him just to hear them laugh.

His hobbies included puzzles, camping, going to car races, karaoke, dancing, swimming, taking walks, watching movies, playing video games, spending time with his animals, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Seahawks and Mariners.

If you were ever blessed with one of David's hugs, then you already know — he gave the very best hugs. His love for people, animals, and nature could always be seen in his smile. May the memories of his smile and the sound of his laughter continue to bring sunshine and joy to all who knew and loved him.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Lela Wells, Gary Celestine, Elsie Celestine-Perry (Raymond), and Shirley Hursh (Hubert); as well as his uncle Tracy Jensen and aunt Cheryl McDonald.

David's memory will live on through his father and "Angie-Mom," Dennis Celestine and Angela Hursh-Celestine; his mother, Sherrie L. Wells; his brother, Joseph C. Metsker (Sabrina); his sisters, Bethany F. Celestine, Valerie M. Graybill (Jeromy), and Selika M. Celestine; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends.

David shared a special bond with his nephews Brandon and Raven, nieces Jaylene and Evaney, and family friend David Presley Jr.

David loved a laughter-filled party, and in honor of his joyful spirit, family and friends are invited to join us for "David's Final Farewell Party" on June 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Upper Skagit Indian Tribe Cultural Center (25665 Coyote Drive, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284)

Food, beverages, party favors, and of course cake, will be served buffet style. All are welcome, and guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share.

To honor David's love for the Seahawks and Mariners, please wear your favorite team colors or apparel.
