Obituary

David "Dave" Edward Hruby, of Acme, Washington, passed away March 11, 2025 at the age of 78.

David was born September 27, 1946 in Loup City, Nebraska to Charlotte and Edward Hruby.  He grew up in Ord, NE with his younger sisters, Cecilia and Madelyn, and his little brother, Steve.

David served in the Navy from 1964 until1969.  After a tour in Vietnam, he was stationed in Oak Harbor, WA.  From there, he moved to Whatcom County where he worked at Skagit Steel then Colt Construction.  He married Linda Eberli in 1970 and shortly after, he became a journeyman carpenter.  They settled in Acme and had four children.

In 1998, he and Midge opened the Acme Café.  It became a favorite for the locals and out-of-towners.  They owned and operated the Café until 2011.

If David wasn't working, you could find him crabbing, fishing, clam digging, tinkering in his cave or sitting by a fire listening to his favorite music.

David is survived by his wife, Midge Dreyer and first wife, Linda Hruby; sons, Edward (Tracy) Hruby, Jeffrey Hruby; daughters, Monica Hruby, Mandy Hruby; grandchildren, Tyler (Maddy) Hruby, Samantha Hruby, Sadie Hruby, Dylan Dixon, Tyson Engholm and Caleb Krogh; great-grandchild, Forest Lee Hruby.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00PM, Friday, March 21, 2025 at Saxon Cemetery, Acme.

A Potluck reception will immediately follow at the Hruby residence, 757 Innis Creek Road, Acme.
