It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deborah "Debbie" Egbert Kanske, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who departed from this world on Monday, April 8, 2024. Debbie's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Born on June 14, 1955, Debbie's journey was marked by a deep-rooted passion for nurturing life and spreading joy. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was the center of her universe, and she poured her heart and soul into creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
In addition to her roles as a loving wife and mother, Debbie was a volunteer of the Mount Vernon Fire Department, where she served the community with dedication and compassion. Debbie was also a Support Officer for Skagit Community Care Organization. She also dedicated herself to a career in nursing, where her expertise and caring nature brought comfort and healing to countless individuals. Her work in both fields reflected her innate desire to serve others and make a difference in their lives.
Debbie's talents extended beyond her professional endeavors; she was a gifted quilter, finding solace and joy in creating intricate designs and beautiful quilts. Her passion for quilting not only showcased her creativity but also provided her with a means of forming lasting connections and friendships within the quilting community and beyond.
Debbie is survived by her beloved husband, Duane Kanske of Mount Vernon, WA, her sons, Douglas Kanske and Dean Kanske, also of Mount Vernon, WA; as well as countless siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, whose lives she touched in profound ways. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy of kindness, compassion, and service will continue to inspire us all.
A service to honor Debbie's life will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, WA on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11:00AM. Friends and loved ones are invited to join together in remembrance and celebration of Debbie's life, sharing stories and memories that will continue to illuminate our hearts in the days to come. A time of visitation will be available from 9:00 to 5:00, Wednesday and Thursday at Lemley Chapel. A burial service will be held at Bow Cemetery in Bow, WA following the service and reception at 2:00.
May Debbie rest in peace, knowing that her life touched so many and that she will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Memorial contributions may be made in Debbie's name to Salem Lutheran Church, the Red Cross or an organization of your choice.
