On March 15, 2024, Diana Mae (Swift) Van Notric passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Diana was born in Spokane, Washington on March 9, 1947, and adopted at birth by Lester and Florence Swift. She moved to Everett when she was thirteen, where her parents pastored at a local church.

Diana enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with her horse, Flicka. After graduating from Everett High School in 1965, she attended Everett Community College. Diana also competed in the Miss Everett Beauty Pageant. She was fluent in French and played the piano. Diana met Dan on a blind date when he filled in for his friend. They married in February of 1969 and lived on Whidbey Island before moving to Day Creek. Their first house in Day Creek flooded and they had to leave the house via boat. They moved to their house on Warfield Road shortly after and raised all four kids there. They turned the property into a hobby farm that included goats, ponies and horses, sheep, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, cattle, pigs, and even a llama. She especially loved lambing season and everything sheep related!!

Diana loved sheep. She collected sheep magnets, ornaments, tea mugs, and anything sheep related, including spinning wool and knitting. She loved to come up with witty names for sheep, such as "Ram-a-lamb-a Ding Dong" and "Ali- Baaa Baa and his 40 ewes".  She had a large garden every year and enjoyed cooking and canning everything that came out of it. Diana was a talented artist and loved to paint. She often included scripture verses in her artwork. She also loved to quilt and made many beautiful pieces for friends and family. Family vacations were usually spent going up into Canada and Alaska, driving a minivan and tent camping most years, though we did have a tent trailer for several trips. She loved all the wildflowers and always brought a heavy book to press any she could find.

Raised as an only child, she always wanted siblings and used to wonder if her biological parents had more children. She was able to get her adoption records unsealed and found out who her biological mother was and found she had no additional children. Her mother, "Jackie", had passed before she was able to meet her, but Diana was able to meet her cousin, Marilyn, who had lived with Jackie. Still wanting to find out about her father, she submitted a DNA test with a popular company. After several years and lots of research, she found out who her father (Leslie Walshaw) was and that he had three sons – her half-brothers! Her family surprised her with the news by doing a video chat with her brother, Jim, and his family, during her 72 ^nd birthday party. Last year, at 76 years old, she was able to meet her youngest brother Jim and his youngest son, Garrett in person when they came to visit. Diana loved her family, her friends, and her church, Day Creek Chapel, that she attended for many years. We will all miss her, but we rejoice that she is running free in heaven, no longer in pain.

Scott Walshaw of Reno, NV; sister-in-law Robyn Walshaw of Camino, CA; aunt, Laura (Joe) Swift Engel of Vancouver, WA; uncle, Carl Swift of Everett, WA; cousins, Claudia (Chip) Stiff of Portland, OR;  Rod (Teresa) Graham of Maunaloa, HI, Ann (David) Kafoury of Portland, OR.; nephews, Garrett (Serena) Walshaw of Frenchtown, MT, Wyatt Walshaw of Frenchtown, MT, Adam Walshaw of Placerville, CA, Blake Walshaw of Reno, NV; nieces, Katie (John) Lutz of Oakdale, CA, Sarah (David) Ito of Pollock Pines, CA, Holly (Jeremy) Nicolls of Rescue, CA, Maili (Sam) Marsden of Lehi, UT, Jordan Walshaw of Reno, NV, Kendal Walshaw of Reno, NV, Brooke Walshaw of Reno, NV, Shelby (Rich) Patton of Vallejo, CA, Brittany Walshaw of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Katie Hoffman, Amy Hoffman, Collin (Allison) Van Notric, Cameron Van Notric, Chloe Van Notric, and Jaeden Grenz of Mount Vernon, WA and Jozalyn Van Notric, Izabella Van Notric, Elianai Van Notric, Jubilee Van Notric, and Gabriel Van Notric of Sedro-Woolley, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Howard Swift and Florence Madeline Swift; her biological mom, Arvilla "Jackie" Lorena Chase, her biological father, Leslie Raymond Walshaw, brother, John Stephen Walshaw, biological maternal cousin, Marilyn Morgan.

A Celebration of Diana's Life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2:00pm at the Day Creek Chapel, 31438 South Skagit Highway, Sedro Woolley, WA 98284. Share your memories of Diana and sign the online guest register.
