Diane Joyce Newell, age 78, of Mount Vernon, Washington passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025 at home with her husband, daughter and hospice nurse at her side.  She was born April 15, 1947 in Bellingham, WA to Robert and Bernice (Beckman) Ferngren.

Diane treasured her family, excelled at waiting tables, being organized and timely with the nickname "The General" for keeping things on task.  She had a passion for well-made furniture and keeping her home pleasing to the eye.

Diane is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Jana (Joe) DeGloria; daughter in law, Nicole Newell; grandchildren, Luke Spoelstra, Dylan (Avery) Newell, Cole (Kiara) Newell, L. J. DeGloria, Ryanne DeGloria and Evan DeGloria; great grandchildren, Seven Spoelstra, Landyn Spoelstra Sutton Spoelstra, June Newell, Easton Henderson, Clay Newell, Ava Newell, Everleigh Newell and Rafe Newell; siblings, Donna (John) Hager and Dee Dee (Dan) Nielson; many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bernice; sister, Darlene Maulin; son, Jason Newell.
