Dixie Ellen Hamilton, 84, passed away peacefully in the morning hours on Thursday, June 22, 2023.

She was born April 27, 1939 in Sequim, WA. the daughter of Ralph and Margaret Lindbloom. Not too long after, the family relocated to Big Lake, WA, where she attended Big Lake Elementary and finished schooling by graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School.

In September of 1959, she married Ronald Hamilton. Their final family home was on East Big Lake Blvd. for over 50 years. Dixie was a lifetime member of the Big Lake Church of the Nazarene. She participated in leading singing, teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible school, as well as being involved in many church socials. Her work included, Substitute teaching, Stokely Van Camp Cannery, Day Care coordinator at the Gingerbread House, Petrolane Gas Co. and Valley Electric before retiring with Ron.

Dixie was an exceptional seamstress. She made many costumes for her kids, holiday dresses, school clothes, etc. She loved to cook and bake, making some of the best pies, cookies and cakes. She was incredibly good at making birthdays and holidays fun. The family home was always welcoming to any family and friends, including a rotating number of teens from church. She loved decorating her home, especially Christmas. Dixie loved camping and looked forward to the yearly houseboat trip with friends. Dixie and Ron loved to travel and had life-long friends from school, church and from Ron's time spent in the Navy, some of which are like family.

After the passing of the love of her life, she moved to Park Village in Mt. Vernon, until fall of 2015, when there was a significant decline in her health. She then moved to Where the Heart is in Burlington, WA where she spent the rest of her days.

Dixie is survived by her daughters, Julie (Dave) Prather of Everett, WA; Karen McCormack of Mt. Vernon, WA; son, Scott (Debbie) Hamilton of Burlington, WA.,  grandchildren, Jacob (Erica) Howell of Sedro Woolley, WA, Jared Luxem of Mt. Vernon, WA, Emmilyn Hamilton of Burlington, WA.;  greatgrandchildren, Chandler and Hamilton Howell and Kolton Luxem; her brother, Larry Lindbloom of Mt. Vernon, WA;  numerous  cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dixie was predeceased by her parents; grandparents; her beloved husband, Ron; son-in-law, Stuart McCormack; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dixie was laid to rest in a private family burial at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley beside her husband Ron.

A celebration of Dixie's life will be held at the Big Lake Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you to donate to the humane society of Skagit Valley due to her love for her pets, or the Big Lake Fire Department Association.
