Erva Vae Millie (Scott) Hardy, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 8, 2025, at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington. She was born on January 22, 1943, in Port Orchard, Washington, the daughter to Leonard and Ellis (Driskell) Scott.

Erva grew up in Marblemount and attended school in Concrete. She graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School and married Gordon Nelson in 1959. Their family quickly grew to include four children, and they made many lifelong friends as members of the Sedro-Woolley Jaycees. In 1967 the family moved to Alvin, Texas.

In Texas, Erva devoted herself to raising her children and managing their home. She juggled family responsibilities and went to college part-time, eventually proudly earning her Associates degree. In 1971, she began working in hospital registration, a role that would eventually lead her to a career in Human Resources.

In 1995, Erva married Scott Hardy of Corpus Christi, Texas. Her life in Corpus Christi included working in Human Resources at Flint Hills Refinery and being active in community organizations. Her hobbies included golf, gardening, reading, cooking, baking, and spoiling her dachshund pups. She adored her grandkids and great-grandkids, and dancing at their weddings and cuddling their babies. She also loved to entertain and host dinner parties and was known for her kindness to neighbors in times of need. Erva was a devoted daughter and caregiver in the final years of her mother's life. She and Scott enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, including road trips in their fifth wheel once they retired. Visiting U.S. National Parks were some of their favorite trips.

Through the years, Erva stayed connected to the Skagit Valley through regular visits. She enjoyed the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival and summers at the family beach house on Samish Island. In 2018, she and Scott built a second home on Samish Island. She loved Pacific northwest seafood, all the wonderful produce grown in the Skagit Valley, and having fun at the area casinos.

Erva is survived by her loving husband, Scott Hardy; her daughters, Shirley (Michael) Anthony, Amy (Rory) Wilcox; son, Jeff (Crystal) Nelson; her brother, Steve Scott; 10 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her parents; her son Michael Nelson; her brothers Jerry McKinney and Cleve Scott.

A Celebration of Erva Vae's Life will be held at 1:00 PM, on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley.
