Esther Ione (Wardell) Jordan, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at her home in Sedro-Woolley, WA, her long battle against numerous medical problems finally ended.

Esther was born September 11, 1928 to Evelyn Mae (Baker) Wardell and Jesse Howard Wardell in Everett, WA.  She was raised in Sedro-Woolley and Arlington. She attended schools in both cities, graduating from Arlington High School in 1946.

On May 8, 1948 she married Niles "Sonny" Jordan of Lyman, WA, after his discharge from the US Navy.  She then followed Niles' professional baseball career throughout the United States and Caribbean Islands. When their daughter reached school age in the fall of '54, the family settled in Arlington. After his baseball career ended, the family moved to Sedro-Woolley in the fall of 1962.

Esther worked as an usher in the Dream Theater in Sedro Woolley in her younger years. She was a bank teller in Everett before her marriage. Her next work was as a pharmacy assistant and retail clerk in Cady Drug in Arlington. She held the same positions at McClintock Drug in Sedro-Woolley from the early 1960s until the store closed. Esther then retired to devote her time to home and family which were the center of her life.

She is survived by her eldest sister, Edythe (Wardell) Taylor, 96 years old of, West Seattle; daughters and sons-in-law, Shauna Jordan and Jeff Oiness, Heidi (Timothy) Manion, all of Sedro-Woolley; she was a loving grandmother to Elizabeth Oiness, Steven, Troy, and Annie Manion; numerous nieces and nephews, and their families who have loved Auntie Esther with fond memories Christmas, July 4th, birthdays and other holidays spent at her home.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband "Sonny" in 2008; their newborn daughter, Heatha in 1950; her parents; brother, Jack Wardell; her sisters, Elayne Ricks and Ethelyne Hill; and grandson, Levi Manion have all gone on before her.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Edwin Stickle, and the other physicians, nurses, and aides of Hospice of the Northwest for their support and guidance that have eased her struggles in her last weeks at home.
