Geraldine
Demarco
d. Feb 27, 2021
Geraldine DeMarco left this life to be with the Lord on February 27th. She was born in Santa Monica, CA in 1934 and shortly after her sixteenth birthday married Louis DeMarco who passed away in 2020. For seventy years, they had an amazing life together traveling all over the United States and to foreign countries while he was in the U.S. Navy, and eventually settled down to raise twelve children in Burlington, Sudden Valley, and Bellingham, WA. She loved her family, her friends, and her church. She earned her AA Degree in Library Science from Skagit Valley College and worked and volunteered as a librarian in Skagit and Whatcom Counties and ultimately developed a passion for bookbinding and restoring books at Western Washington University in Bellingham. She loved many things, some of which were: music & she sang with Sweet Adeline and taught herself to play the piano & organ; swimming & she taught swimming lessons for the Red Cross; needlework & she knitted & crocheted blankets, scarves, and hats for various charities; scouting & she volunteered for Cub, Boy, & Girl Scout troops; reading & she especially loved reading the bible. Her faith in God was unwavering to the very end. She spent many years volunteering wherever there was a need and hosted foreign exchange students and families from France, Guatemala, Mexico, Japan, and Germany.
She is survived by her twelve children, Jeri, Ed, Carrie, Joni, Christina, Wendy, Mickey, Dan, Curt, Josie, Lia, and Greg, and their spouses, and was blessed with twenty-one grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Geraldine will be laid to rest beside her husband at Tahoma National Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Share your memories of Geraldine and sign the online guest register.
