James David Robinson

James David Robinson, affectionately known as “Jim,” “JR,” and “Popa,” was born on December 18, 1947, in the charming town of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, where he was born, raised, and ultimately passed away. Jim peacefully departed this world on September 1, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family in the comfort of his home. His life was a tapestry of love, commitment, and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born to Troy and Mamie Robinson, Jim was raised in a nurturing environment filled with warmth and affection. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents; his dear little brother, Dale Robinson; his grandson, Tanner Manke; and his daughter-in-law, Darla Robinson. Despite these losses, Jim’s heart remained open and generous, spreading kindness and joy to everyone he encountered.

Jim was a dedicated husband to his high school sweetheart, Pamela Robinson, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 60 years. Their journey together began on July 1, 1966, and was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, Jim and Pam built a family rooted in love and respect, with their son, Ronnie Robinson, and daughter, Kathie, at the heart of it. Jim was so proud to have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In the days leading up to it, he often spoke of how lucky he was to be married to Pam, saying she was the best thing in his life and that nobody could ever beat her cooking.

A proud graduate of Sedro-Woolley High School, Jim was a skilled fabricator and welder who spent many years working at Skagit Steel and later retired from IRI. His craftsmanship was more than a profession; it was a passion that extended into his personal life. He delighted in building a playground for his grandchildren, an act that perfectly encapsulated his love and dedication to family.

Jim’s hobbies were simple yet meaningful. He cherished every moment spent with his family and found joy in watching old westerns, often playfully “arguing” and insisting that he had never seen a certain episode before. His quick wit and warm smile were his trademarks, and he was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. Jim had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and his kindness and generosity touched countless lives.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela; his loving children, Ronnie Robinson and Kathleen (Michael) Robinson-Manke; his grandchildren, Tyler (Cassie) Manke, Amber Manke, Heath (Kelsey) Manke, Courtney Robinson, and Karissa Kane; and his adored great-grandchildren, Vivian, Forrest, and Ava Manke. He also leaves behind his brothers, Ken (Eileen) Robinson and Jerry Robinson, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.

In honoring Jim’s wishes, a private memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have expressed their condolences and support during this difficult time.

The family has shared a special message: “Popa was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, and brother who was cherished by all and will be deeply missed by many family and friends.”

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jim’s memory, a fitting tribute to a man who gave so selflessly to others throughout his life.

Jim Robinson’s legacy of love and laughter will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the warmth of the love he so generously gave.
