Obituary

On June 24, 2024, Karol "Carl" Howard Goodwillie passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes with his loving family in his longtime residence on Rhodes Road, Sedro-Woolley.

Carl was born in Flint Michigan to Viodea & Hilton Goodwillie. He was later raised by Lou Leader with his three siblings, Mary Marget, Gerald, and Bud. He married three times, firstly to Mary Kamp's, the mother of his only child Lori, then to Zona Engen. He then lived the majority of the final years of his life with his loving wife Ladean Smith.

Carl grew up in Concrete, WA, and graduated from the local high school. He then proudly served his country in the US Navy 1951-1954 during the Korean War, where he traveled the world working primarily as a cook onboard the US Sarasota. He was a hard worker and enjoyed a fruitful career as a machinist having worked for some time at the Concrete Cement Plant before working for Sedro-Woolley Auto Parts, and Bates Abrasive.

He had a passion for woodworking, golfing, bowling, and brightening the lives of those around him. A lifelong fan of Michigan University sports, Carl could never grow tired of watching his favorite teams playing football, basketball, and baseball. He had a great sense of humor, and the highlight of his life was always spending time with friends and family whenever they visited. He made countless well-crafted pieces of furniture which he loved to give away. He was also a 60-year member of the local American Legion, where he greatly enjoyed meeting and spendingquality time with his friends and fellow veterans. At the time of his passing, he was one of the longest-living members.

He is survived by his brother Gerald, loving daughter, Lori Stallo; his grandchildren, Lisa Switchel, Kyle Stallo.

Carl was a kind, humble man, who was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A service will be held by the family on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 2:00pm at Union Cemetery 1450 Wicker Rd., Sedro-Woolley. A celebration of life at 3:00pm at the American Legion Post #43 707 Murdock St., Sedro-Woolley, WA.
