Larry Gean Gadbois was born on July 23, 1945, to Arthur and Gean (Vanderpool) Gadbois. He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1964. He made his home and established his business in Clear Lake, near the family farm, where he and his wife, Suzanne, raised their five children. He loved farming and haying with his tractors.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a well-known custom butcher in the Skagit Valley and took great pride in his craft. He kept busy raising beef and, later in life, discovered a love for square and round dancing. He went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2026, with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gean; his wife, Suzanne (Fortin); his sister, Carrol; his grandson, Jeffrey; and his friend, Halston Hunter, who thought of Larry as a father.
Larry is survived by his second wife, Jerry McKinney; his sons, Nathan (Danielle) Gadbois and Ottis “Skip” Farris; and his daughters, MarySue (Kyle) Moffet, Tami (Tony) Swanson, Rena (Keith) Wise, Julie (Levi) Davies, and Tammy McKinney.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amber, Cassie, Victoria, Carroline, Isaak, Dalton, Amaiya, Taylor, Laven, Rhyder, Bowen, Kolby, Carys, and Kennady; his great-grandchildren, Kaidyn, Madison, Luciana, Trinity, Devina, Rilynn, Raedyn, Declan, Adalayah, and Elliana; his brother, Darrell (Jan) Gadbois; his niece, Laura; and his nephews, Dennis and Dale, and their families.
Larry was blessed with people who became family over the years, including Jeff Jansma, Bob Cushen, and Gloria Gilbert Coward. He also shared a special bond with his “brothers of the heart,” Glen Prestmo, Ken Johnson, Dave Nelson, and Murray Benjamin. Larry’s strength and will to live endured until his last breath.
Memorial donations can be made to Clear Lake Fire Department in Larry’s honor.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at The Barn, 303 E. Jones Rd., Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. A reception will follow. Share your memories of Larry and sign the online guest register.
