Lorene May
Pitman
Mar 14, 1937 — May 17, 2026
Lorene May Pitman passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on March 14, 1937, in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Lorene was the daughter of George and Ethel (Allen) DeBay. She lived a life centered around family, kindness, creativity, and caring for others.
On January 7, 1954, Lorene married George Heber Pitman. Together they shared 63 years of marriage, raising their three children while following George through 22 years of military service. As a military wife and mother, Lorene created a loving and stable home wherever life took them.
Lorene was known for her great sense of humor, caring heart, and generous spirit. She enjoyed volunteering in her community and spent many happy years golfing at Avalon and Gateway Golf Courses. She also loved arts and crafts and generously shared her many handcrafted creations with family and friends.
After George's passing in 2017, Lorene later found companionship and happiness again when she married Danny Vandenberg. They shared 7½ wonderful years together.
Lorene will be deeply missed by her children, Jackie and Jerry O'Neil, Cathy and Fred Andal, and Dennis and Juanita Pitman; grandchildren, Misty, Corey, Tracie, Valery and Rick; and her great-grandchildren, Allen James (AJ), Austin, Anna, Nakiah, Kicen, Brandon, Trevor, Aiden, Lucas, Brody, and Paisley.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at Lemley Funeral Home. Lorene will be laid to rest beside George at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley.
