Lory Daniel (Dan) Nieshe, 42, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at his home in Edmonds, WA. He was born on December 10, 1980 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, the son to Lory B. Nieshe and Peggy Wake (Watts).
Dan was born in Sedro-Woolley, Wa, where he spent his childhood. He married Jennifer Past in 2001. They met in his sophomore year of high school and welcomed their first child, Athena Gabrielle Nieshe, in 1999. After high school he worked on the rigging crew at LB&R logging company. Dan followed in his father's footsteps and joined the army in 2000. He became a member of the elite 82nd Airborne unit 2/75 Ranger Battalion. In 2003, his second child, Odin Draigh Nieshe, was born. Dan and his family then moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina, to pursue his dream of becoming a Green Beret. In 2005 Dan and Jennifer welcomed their third child, Bacchus Mage Nieshe. After serving two tours in Afghanistan, he began to train in the Psychological Operations unit of the Army. After a few years, Dan shared his fourth child, Aleister Green Nieshe, with Elizabeth Frey in North Carolina in 2009. Dan continued his quest for understanding the human condition after leaving the army and received his degree in psychology from Methodist University in 2014. Shortly after he moved back home to Washington and worked as an addiction counselor in the Bothell area.
Lory Daniel Nieshe was a devoted father and a loyal friend to many. He loved reading, some of his favorites were Dune and the writings of Aleister Crowley and his own great uncle, Friedrich Nietzsche. He enjoyed hiking the North Cascade Mountains with friends and family, playing his bongo drum, and writing in his journals. Dan also had a passion for Jujitsu where he received his black belt and became an instructor. Dan was fierce in his beliefs and loving with his visions. He served his country out of love for his friends and family. Lory Daniel Nieshe will be missed.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Athena Nieshe; sons, Odin Nieshe, Bacchus Nieshe, and Aleister Nieshe; sisters, Scarlett Fierro, Taylor Wake; brother, Kyler Wake; nieces, Bella, Natalee; nephews, Andrew, Aiden, Adrian, Colter, Steve Nieshe and Carl Clark.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lory Nieshe; mother, Peggy Watts; brother, Steve Nieshe; sister, Linda Nieshe; numerous aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00, Monday, March 6, 2023 at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Share memories of Dan and sign the online guest register.
