Lucille Eleanor Self, age 94, of Sedro-Woolley, Washington passed away October 11, 2021, with her daughter, Judy Spanski, son in law and caregivers by her side. She was born September 8, 1927, in High Shoals, North Carolina to William Claude and Mary Lou (Nelson) Moody.
Lucille was one of nine children growing up in North Carolina. She was married to William Howard Self on November 1, 1946, in Mount Vernon, WA. They lived most of their lives in Hamilton, WA, except for a few years at Samish Island, WA and outside of Sedro-Woolley. She had a dear friend and neighbor, Judy Wagner in Hamilton. She was an accomplished artist of many landscapes, wildlife, Thomas Kinkades and water scenes, and had made many hand-painted porcelain dolls and clothing for them. She loved to sew, maintain her home and can the goods from her garden each year, and she loved to cook. Lucille also had many horses, a favorite being "Sugar."
Lucille is survived by her children, Marlene (Ted) Anderson, Judy (Artie) Spanski, Janet (Gene) Mathis and William "Bill" Howard (Wendy) Self, Jr.; grandchildren, Sherri Anderson (Ben) Irwin, Kelli (Greg) Saunders, Jodie Mathis, Teddi Anderson, Tyler (Cindy) Spanski, Jolene (Josh) Baijot, Dirk (Alice McKibbin) Spanski, William Brian Self, Ashlynn Self and Neal Self; great grandchildren, Jacob Irwin, Josh Irwin, Dillon Baijot, Chayce Anderson, Morgan Saunders, Zachary Hendricks, Mya Baijot, Alyssa Hendricks, Gavin Spanski, Kena Baijot, Brian "Howie" Self, Brooklyn Self and Esher Anderson; extended family, Jaden McKibbon-Wright; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Claude and Mary Lou Moody; husband, William Howard Self; siblings, three infant brothers, Bill Moody, Ruby Balich, Ruth Vaughin, Duane Moody and Dwight Moody; grandchild, baby Spanski and great-grandchild, Dalton Olson.
A Time of Visitation will be available for Noon to 5:00, Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00, Friday at Hamilton Baptist Church, Pastor Ron Edwards presiding. The Committal Service will follow at Hamilton Cemetery.
