Marilyn Patricia Hutchison, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Whidbey Memory Care in Oak Harbor, Washington. She was born on January 9, 1940, in Bellingham, Washington, to Herbert W. and Edna P. Miller.
Marilyn graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the Class of 1958 and remained very active in class reunions and gatherings throughout the years. On November 1, 1959, she married Ransell Hutchison in Oak Harbor. Marilyn was extremely talented at sewing and often made clothing for herself and her daughters. She loved horses, cake decorating, photography, videos, and creating memorable costumes. She especially enjoyed dressing up as the Easter Bunny, the Mitzel's Bear mascot, and the Sedro-Woolley Cubs mascot for parades and surprise visits. In later years, she became well known for her holiday decorating, especially her Halloween displays, which were featured twice in the Skagit Valley newspaper. She also loved being outdoors and working in her yard.
Marilyn worked in several roles throughout her life, including as a cashier at the Navy Exchange and at Coast to Coast Hardware in Sedro-Woolley. She also waited tables at Skagit Station Dining Company, spent more than 25 years at Mitzel's American Kitchen in Mount Vernon, and later worked about 15 years at The Farmhouse in Bayview, retiring at age 73.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Lisa England; grandsons, Jamie Duquette and Tory England; great-grandchildren, Michael Schmidt, Kenny Duquette, Damien Duquette, MacKenzie McLane-Redding, Denny Duquette, Lillian England, Winter Duquette, and Elliott Duquette; great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Schmidt; nieces, Suzin Katsel, Jonelle Owens, and Jeriann Holly; and their children.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ronelle Carzoli; siblings, Carol Umbenhauer, Manley Miller, Jerry Miller, and Barbara Miller; significant other, Dade Bailey; and beloved pets, Keko, Bridgette, Bambi, Benji, Bella, and Chili.
