Marilyn VanDelinder, 84, a lifelong Skagit Valley resident died at home with her family September 3,2025. Marilyn was born in Sedro-Woolley, Washington February 27, 1941, to William and Wilhelmina (Wilson) Soren. She was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1960.
In 1961, she was united in marriage to James Baker, together they had two boys. In 1972, they moved to La Conner, WA where she was a hostess at The Lighthouse Restaurant for 5 years. She also worked as a clerk in the La Conner Jail.
in 1985, she married Charles VanDelinder; they moved to Sedro-Woolley where they shared 35 years together gardening, camping and proud members at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles and Legion for over 30 years.
Marilyn is survived by her loving son and daughter in law, William and Mindy Baker of Sedro-Woolley; loving brother, Bill (Ruth) Soren; loving sister, Iva Ewing; special niece, Cheryl Ward; special granddaughter, Niki (John) Lee; great grandchildren; many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; two special grand dog, Lady and Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Wilhelmina Soren; both her husbands, James Baker and Charles VanDelinder; sister, Elizabeth Gibbs; son, Jim Baker.
A time of visitation will be available from 9:00 to 5:00 Thursday and Friday; Saturday Noon-4 at Lemley Chapel; a Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley, Pastor Greg Hall presiding.
