Marjean Kettie Williams, 88 years old, went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2025.

She passed at home in Birdsview, Washington on the same land that was purchased by her father in 1933.  She was anticipating her heavenly home, and her loved ones know she is rejoicing in Heaven, free from pain and suffering to fullness of joy and peace.

She was born in Sedro-Woolley, WA on March 5, 1936 and the firstborn to Vivian Durant Bates and Thelma Matilda Bates.  It was a snowy day when they returned to their home in Birdsview, WA, and Vivian had to carry his newborn baby girl up the final road because the car couldn't drive through the deep snow.

She began her adventurous life on the farm and shared numerous stories about her childhood over the years.  She and her two brothers and sister worked hard and had fun with 150 acres to explore.  Her father was a logger and had a small dairy farm for a time also.  Her mother was a nurse for many years at Northern State Hospital.

She became a believer in Jesus Christ, trusting in Him alone for salvation, when she was 14 years old at Bible camp.  She was an avid servant of the Lord from that time to her death.  She loved teaching young kids in Sunday School for many years and did Bible clubs at her home in the summer to share the gospel with kids in the neighborhood.

She served in many Vacation Bible Schools over the years.  And she often taught Women's Bible Studies.  She raised her three daughters to know and serve the Lord.  And she was a prayer warrior for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many others.

After marrying her dream-come-true husband, Neil, they moved to Los Angeles, California where he attended seminary.  They lived there for ten years as she raised and took wonderful care of her three daughters.  Then the family moved back to Washington and resided in Federal Way.  Six years ago, Neil and Marjean moved back to Birdsview where she was raised.  And God blessed them with the opportunity to live on the land that was previously her parent's land.  She loved the outdoors and was happy to be back in the country.  She and her husband enjoyed those last six years together which included their love for outdoors, wildlife, and special memories.  Her favorite times were when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 68 years, Neil M. Williams.  They were married on August 10, 1956 in Concrete, WA and had three daughters, Debbie (Mark) Eylander, Robin (Jack) Howard, Darla (Paul) Lamb; six grandchildren, Christopher, Karlie, Jeffrey, Kyle, Benjamin and Sarah; nine great-grandchildren, Pierce, Jones, Luca, Emmarie, David, Eloise, Charlotte, Kaden and Aleah.  She is also survived by her brothers, Ronald Bates and Lawrence Bates; sister, Sylvia Bates Flanagan Dowd.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vivian Bates; mother, Thelma Bates; great-granddaughter, Clara Rose Kirk.

The Memorial Service will be held at Hamilton First Baptist Church,797 Hamilton-Cemetery Road, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1:00.  Reception is after the memorial service with cookies and coffee in fellowship hall.  Please share your memories of Marjean and sign the guest register.
