If you knew Mark, you knew that he was good for a story. Please let us share with you his final story.

Mark Buree Wyatt was born on a Monday, November 14, 1938, at St. Elizabeth Hospital on the corner of Township and Fidalgo, in Sedro-Woolley, WA.

Mark attended Sedro-Woolley and Concrete schools and served a short stint in the US Army. In 1960, he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Frank, and they married on September 2, 1961, at the Hitching Post in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

While residing in Lyman, they welcomed their first daughter, Kandy, and then two years later their only son, Kurtis, and nearly a year later, their daughter, Kimberly.

Their family resided in the small town of Hamilton in the old Cheese Factory home, and then a small home across the street from the Hamilton Post Office that his parents, Homer and Fay (Howard) Wyatt owned, while "Granny" ran the P.O. for several years.

Together Mark and Shirley built a house just a block away on Noble Street, where they resided until the kids' 1977 school year. It was at this time they built their new home in Birdsview.

After their kids grew up, Mark and Shirley moved to Sedro-Woolley and then to Burlington, and then back to Sedro-Woolley, where they lived for the last 11 years. Mark passed at 9:33 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, with his family at his side.

During his lifetime trekking all over this beautiful Skagit Valley he has made so many memories with family and friends.

Prior to retirement at the age of 65, Mark worked at Intalco; Scott Paper Co.; was owner/operator at the Lyman Fuel Station; and owner/operator with his wife at M&S Backhoe.

Several of Mark's hobbies included motorcycle racing; modified car racing (#30) at Skagit Speedway; riding horses and camping at Harry O's; dog hunting with his hounds; elk and deer hunting and fishing; he was known as the "Deadly Tracker" to his CB friends; and enjoyed riding motorcycles as a hobby for several years. During their 63 year and 3-month love story, Mark and Shirley road tripped all of the lower 48 states.

He was also an avid reader from an incredibly early age, right up until his passing.

Mark welcomed his only granddaughter, Cherrish, in 1982; followed by three grandsons, Joshua, in 1983, and Chad and Brian in 1985.

Several years later, he would become a great-papa and great-grandpa to Alexis, Payton, Jagger, Nycole, Caylen, Ashton, Ethan, Wyatt and Autumn.

There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for his family. Family was everything to him. While not rich by any means, his family wanted for nothing. Our richness came in the love and the many things that he was able to teach us, and the beautiful things that he was able to create with his big, strong hands.

There really wasn't anything that Mark couldn't do. Many people in the valley have his windchimes, watering can creations, and wooden planter boxes. Family members have also been gifted beautiful trucks and houses with secret compartments that he handcrafted down to the tiniest detail, all to scale and created without patterns or instructions. His woodworking is now truly an art that is lost forever.

Less than a year ago Mark got an electric/pedal trike and rode it from Sedro Woolley all the way to Birdsview and back. He may or may not have gotten scolded for not letting anybody know his destination. At 84 years old he looked adorable on his trike with his little bike helmet.

He enjoyed playing poker with his friends at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles, and he was adamant that he was always several hundred dollars ahead.

Mark spent several of his later years writing a book that his family affectionately refers to as his "Billy Book".  God willing, his book will be published someday, as he firmly believed that "it could make our family millions."

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Fay Wyatt; grandparents, Robert and Mary Jane (Dave) Wyatt, William and Zephrie Howard; his 16 year old son Kurt; a baby sister, Reva; his older brothers, Raymond Wyatt and LeRoy Wyatt; his older sister Dorothy, and her husband Ernie Hinds; his great-in-laws John and Flora Petty; in-laws Dorn and Lela Alice Shomshak; brother-in-law, Lee Frank; sister-in-law, Mariann Frank; nephews Mike Wyatt, Joe Wyatt and Charles (Chevy) Hinds.

Mark is survived by his best friend and wife, Shirley; daughters and sons-in law Kandy (Rod) Hayes, Kimberly (John) Paul; grandchildren Cherrish and Matt Swiger, Josh and Angela Boonstra, Chad and Amber Hoffman, and Brian and Samantha Grimbly; great-grandchildren Alexis Wysong, Payton Boonstra, Jagger Boonstra, Nycole Hoffman, Caylen Hoffman, Ashton Hoffman, Ethan Eby, Wyatt Grimbly and Autumn Grimbly; sister-in-law Sharon and Art Offley, and brothers-in-law Larry Frank and Eugene Frank; nieces and nephews Debbie, Darla, Jay, Bobby, Simmie, Gary, Sherry, Regina, David, Charissa Lynn, Daniel, Lela, Tony, Christina, Crystal, Able Dean, Amber, John, and of course all of their spouses and children; and a recently newfound nephew, Bill Coss.

Mark got sick just shortly after Christmas 2023 and signed up for Hospice on March 29, 2024.  Our family is eternally grateful for our husband, dad, grandpa, and papa, and so thankful that we got to spend the last six months with him, loving him and caring for his every need.  We have a special place in our hearts for his nurse Melissa, and bath aids Susan and Jake.  We would also like to thank the Bellingham Lions for loaning us a walker, a wheelchair and safety devices.  These two agencies relieved so much stress for our family and we ask that in lieu of flowers, please send a donation to either Hospice of the NW Foundation at 227 Freeway Drive, Suite A, Mount Vernon, WA 98273; or the Bellingham Central Lions Club, Wheelchair Warehouse, 4137 Bennett Drive, Bellingham, WA 98226.

Our family would also like to send special thanks to several of Mark's friends who "checked in" on him.  And hugs and love to  his life-long friend, Larry Aungst, for visiting in Mark's final days, just to chat about the good ole' days.
