Marvin Eugene Elliott, 76, passed away on February 12, 2025, in Arlington, Washington, at Cascade Valley Senior Living after an extended illness.

Born on April 4, 1948, in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Marvin was the youngest of four sons of George and Blanche Elliott.  He grew up on a small farm along the Samish River and Prairie Road, where he developed a deep love for nature and the outdoors.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brothers, George Dean Elliott and Dale Arthur Elliott.  He is survived by his brother, James Edward Elliott, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marvin attended Sedro-Woolley High School, graduating in 1966.  An avid athlete, he played football, basketball, and baseball.  Later in life, he became an expert golfer and bowler, but his greatest passion was fishing.  Whether casting a line in local rivers or venturing to British Columbia's lakes, he found joy in the pursuit of trout and salmon.  A skilled fly fisherman, he generously shared his knowledge with others.

After high school,  Marvin worked at Northern State Hospital, caring for psychiatric patients.  He later worked in the farming industry, operating agricultural equipment and assisting on dairy farms.  His final career was managing a state-owned liquor store.  In his later years, he became the primary caregiver for his mother, a role he embraced with love and dedication.

In 1980, Marvin made a life-changing commitment to sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), remaining sober for over 40 years.  He mentored and supported others on their recovery journeys, forming deep friendships along the way.  Many of his most cherished memories involved AA road trips on motorcycles and time spent with family—celebrating holidays, camping, and annual fishing trips to Canada.

Marvin had a tender heart and a deep love for animals.  He cared for many pets over the years, including dogs and a growing family of cats, nurturing each with kindness and patience.  His gentle nature extended beyond his pets—he had an innate compassion for all living things.

Known for his storytelling, quick wit, and playful sense of humor, Marvin always had a tale to entertain those around him.  His adventurous spirit, kind heart, and love of life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
