Obituary

The family of Mary Ruth Melton of Sedro-Woolley, Washington is saddened to announce her passing on November 21 , 2025, at the age of 76.  She was born on December 1, 1948, to Merritt and Elenora Melton in Sedro-Woolley.

She grew up in Lyman with her parents and four siblings.  She graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School.  She then attended Skagit Valley College where she achieved her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate.  She worked at Life Care Center for many years and later assisted handicap adults with independent living skills in their home.  She lived with her oldest daughter at her home in Sedro-Woolley.

She was most known for her endless gift of love and her ability to see the good in everyone.  Her happiest times were when feeding others and surprising them with gifts.  She was so grateful for her family and many friends.  She knew no stranger and friends quickly became family.  Her greatest joy was being NeNe to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all the other children/adult children that came to know and love her.

She is survived by her Ex-husband and lifelong friend, Calvin Huscusson; her children and their significant others, Lagina McKinley (Gary Koski) of Sedro-Woolley, Debra Page (Melissa Hornbeck) of Montana, Mike (Sahra) Huscusson of Snohomish; four grandchildren, Nicole (Sam) Jeffries, Cody (Annissa) Apple, Dakota Hemphill, Konnor McKinley (Lakai Massey); three great grandchildren, Billie Rose, Halen and Baylor; sister, Sharon (Bob) Garcia; brother, Roger Melton; brother-in-law, Mike Garcia; bonus children who she loved as if they were her own, Christine Bigelow, Melissa Hornbeck and Cheryl Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merritt and Eleanora Melton; sisters, Ruie (Earlie) Franks and Ronda Garcia; brother, Ray (Babe) Melton.

We would like to give a special thanks to the caring staff at Peace Health Oncology Center for treating her like she was family and always making her feel special.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 11:00, December 12, 2025 at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley followed by a brief graveside ceremony at the Lyman Cemetery.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  The family would like to encourage those attending to wear a colored sweatshirt in honor of Mary's favorite outfit.  There will be a celebration of life later in the Spring.
