Matthew "Matt" James Washington, age 38, passed away January 22, 2022, at Skagit Valley Hospital, Mount Vernon, Washington.  He was born August 9, 1983, in Mount Vernon to William "Dean" and LeAnne (Drivstuen) Washington.

Matthew worked as a commercial fisherman and crabber.  Anyone who worked with Matthew knew him to be a hard worker who you could count on to get the job done.  Matthew enjoyed spending time with his children, nieces, family and friends.  Matthew had a heart of gold, the brightest smile and most contagious laugh, but most of all, he was so good to the people he loved.  Matthew was most proud of his children, and to have the last name "Washington."

Matt is survived by his children, Skylar, Jaidyn, Emma, Matthew Jr., Zachary and Sophia Washington; mother, LeAnne Washington; siblings, Bradley and Angela Washington, Jesse McIntyre and Ashley Washington and her partner, Aaron Chan; nieces, Starla Zierman, Ava and Ella Washington, nephews, Braden, Conner and Bentley Washington; aunts and uncles, Sharol and Jay Maier, Debra, Leanne and Bryan Washington, Jim and Lisa Stansberry, Joey and Jerry Seidler; numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, William "Dean" Washington; sister, Taylor Washington; both grandfathers, William Martin Washington and Richard Drivstuen; aunts, Nicole Washington and Vickie Drivstuen; cousin, Troy Boggs.

A Funeral Service will be held at Noon, Friday, January 28, 2022, at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, Pastor Bruce Shellhammer presiding.  A time of visitation will be available from 10:00 to 5:00, Thursday at Lemley Chapel.  Share your memories of Matt and sign the online guest register.
