Meredith
Walker
d. Dec 16, 2025
Meredith Ann Walker, 96, of Burlington, Washington, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. She passed peacefully in the presence of family.
Meredith was the daughter of Harry and Althea Moberg and grew up in Bellingham, WA, where she had an adventurous childhood, snow skiing, playing baseball and roaming through the woods with her big brother, Don. It was at Bellingham High School where she met the love of her life and future husband, James "Jim" Walker. After graduation, Meredith attended St Joseph Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her RN degree. She married Jim in 1953, and they moved to Mount Vernon where they raised their three children. They were married for over 68 years before Jim's passing in 2022.
Meredith found fulfillment in life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse. She was known for her generosity and kindness, someone that always saw the good qualities in others, and was always there to lend an ear to a friend in need and help without being asked. She spent the majority of her nursing career at Skagit Valley Laboratories and was much loved and admired by co-workers and patients.
She also enjoyed hosting bible studies at her home with members of her local congregation. Ever the gracious hostess, she always had freshly baked treats on hand.
After retirement, Meredith and Jim embarked on a new chapter of life and built a home in Burlington on the family farm. There she enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with family and grandchildren.
In their retirement years, Meredith and Jim enjoyed traveling, including a trip to England and Ireland and several Hawaiian vacations. They also loved road trips to California, Arizona, and family vacations in Lake Chelan with children and grandchildren.
Meredith is survived by her 3 children; Jeff (Sherry), Julie (Curt), and Nancy (Marty); 8 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed but her family takes comfort in the hope of the resurrection and the promise of Psalm 23, that she "shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Meredith will be laid to rest at Greenhills Cemetery, Burlington, WA in a private ceremony.
