Michael Alfred Casey 8-14-48 to 7-7-26

A life well lived and loved by many.  All who knew him well knew he was a good man who loved Jesus, loved his wife whole heartedly, loved his children and his family.  He also loved music and sports and those he played with.  He loved his time as a docent on Angel Island and the friendships he made.

Mike was also a man of many words – he loved to talk, he was, after all, a Casey.  But he also listened well and paid attention to the needs and feelings of others more than most people realize.

The careers and events of Mike's life were not profound – he was born in Toronto, Canada and his family moved to Ohio when he was 6 years old.  They relocated often in Ohio with the Ohio Edison Power Company.  Mike graduated from Elyria High School in 1966 and took some classes at the community college while working at a local clothing store.  He enlisted in the Army in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1973.  In the meantime, he married Bernice Ayers and they had 2 children, Bobbie Casey and Brian Casey, of whom he was extremely proud.

Ending his military career in San Francisco, Mike and his young family remained in California where he worked for Unical Oil Co for nearly 30 years, managing the accounting department.  He then became the project manager for Novato Ford dealership, where he met the love of his life, Connie and they were married in 1998.

Together they enjoyed traveling as they managed retirement communities on the East and West Coasts until that opportunity ended.  Having relocated to Morganton, NC, Mike took on the role of Sales and Marketing with the local News Herald and later the Marketing Manager of Servpro in Burke & Catawba Counties.  He retired in 2022 and he and Connie moved to Washington to be close to her family in 2023.

As stated earlier, the jobs he held in and of themselves were not profound but the way he did them and his impact on the lives he touched through them was.  It has been said of him that "he is the kind of person we should all aspire to be."

He is preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) Casey and Norine (Dolly) Casey, his sister Maureen Donich, his brother Paul Casey, and his nephew Matthew Casey.  He is survived by his wife, Connie Casey, his daughter Bobbie, his son Brian, his granddaughter Abbey Casey, his sister Susan Somich (John Somich) and brothers, Steve and Drew Casey (Tracy Casey) and many nieces and nephews and their children.

He loved well and was well loved.  We will miss you, Mike Casey.

A Celebration of Life will be held  July 25, 2026 at 1pm at North Cascades Christian Fellowship, Mt. Vernon Campus, 1830 S. 13 ^th St., Mt. Vernon, WA.
