Myra Kay Martin

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Myra Kay Martin passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 87.

Myra was born on June 27, 1939, to Lisbon Carmichael and Doris Adkins. She was the fourth of six children and was raised in Fairbury, Nebraska. At the age of 16, she married Raymond Glen “Ray” Martin in Grand Junction, Colorado. She accepted the Lord as her savior at 16 years old, and she faithfully served him throughout her life in various church ministries including AWANA, and as a Sunday school teacher. She last attended Emmanuel Baptist Church of Mount Vernon in 2020. Following their marriage, they moved to California where their daughters were born.

Myra was proud to earn her high school diploma in 1972, while her daughters were still in school. She later returned to work, using her natural hands-on talents in Kirby vacuum and furniture repair.

In 1982, Myra and Ray moved to Sedro-Woolley. For several years, they operated Martin’s Vacuum Shop from their family home. Myra was a busy homemaker who devoted herself to cooking, caring for her family, and keeping everything running smoothly. Although she had little interest in sewing or gardening, she loved painting and created a hand-painted family Christmas card each year. She also enjoyed bowling with the Riverside Lanes Bowling League.

After Ray passed away in 2005, following nearly 50 years of marriage, Myra embraced his love of the Seattle Mariners. Her grandsons often brought her Mariners clothing and souvenirs from the games. She also enjoyed the koi pond in her backyard and watching the chainsaw carving at the Sedro-Woolley Loggerrodeo.

Myra will be remembered as a strong, capable woman who lovingly took care of her family and everything around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ray; and her sister, Jessie Redd.

Myra is survived by her siblings, Joe Carmichael (Barbara), Joann (Omar) Brown, Larry Carmichael, and Jerry Carmichael; daughters, April Worthen and Melinda Martin; grandchildren, Daniel (Melissa) Blevins, Michael (Ayesha) Worthen, and Nathan Worthen; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Cole, and Clay Blevins, Gary Josiah and Gracen Worthen, and Alyda Rae Worthen.
