With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Nanci Overway, who left this world surrounded by family on her 78th birthday, July 5, 2026. Born on July 5, 1948, in Mount Vernon, Washington, to Clarence and Virginia Johnson, Nanci's life was a beautiful example of love, laughter, friendship, and family.

Nanci was raised in Clearlake, Washington, alongside her siblings, Michael "Mick," Janice "Jan," and Ronnie Johnson. She graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1966. During her school years, she met her lifelong best friend, Linda Eastman Green. Their friendship stood the test of time, lasting more than 60 years. In recent years, they were fortunate enough to become next-door neighbors – a gift they both treasured.

After high school, Nanci attended beauty school and became a beautician, dedicating more than 40 years to helping others feel beautiful. Her fun-loving personality and caring spirit made lasting impressions on her clients and coworkers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Later, she and her husband, Jay, owned and operated several gas stations and mini-marts throughout Skagit County.

In 1982, Nanci met the love of her life, Jay Overway. They married on April 1, 1983, and built a wonderful life together while raising four cherished daughters: Noelle, Lindsay, Sarah, and Gena. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and countless special memories.

If you knew Nanci, you knew how much she loved to laugh. Her laughter was contagious and unforgettable. She was the life of every gathering, always ready with a funny story, quick wit, or one of her "loving" practical jokes. Her favorite victims were often her daughters and grandchildren, whom she delighted in surprising with playful scares that ended with everyone laughing – especially her.

Nanci found happiness in life's simple pleasures: getting lost in a good book, spending the day shopping, and sharing a glass, or two, of wine with family and friends while talking and laughing for hours. Nothing, however, brought her more joy than being "Nana." Her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Whether she was cheering them on, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time together, Nana's love was constant, unconditional, and unmistakable.

Nanci was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Virginia Johnson; her brothers, Mick and Ronnie Johnson; and her brother-in-law, Jim Moore.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Jay Overway; her daughters, Noelle (Jeff) Jacobson, Lindsay (Jordan) Brown, Sarah Overway, and Gena (Sam) Gullette; her sister, Jan Snyder; her sister-in-law, Patti Chambers; her grandchildren, Mackenzie (Hector) Miranda, Hunter (Maggie) Jacobson, Kannon Jacobson, Trapper Jacobson, Knute Brown, Lilly Overway, Olivia Gullette, Wyatt Gullette, and Beauden Gullette; her great-grandchildren, Ayla, Mateo, and Remi Miranda; and a baby boy Jacobson on the way, expected by Hunter and Maggie. She is also survived by her best friend, Linda Eastman, along with countless friends and extended family members who were blessed to know her.

Nanci entered this world surrounded by love on July 5, 1948, and on that same day, 78 years later, she left us with a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love that will never be forgotten. We will carry her in our hearts always.
