Nathaniel James Cockrum, 23, of Concrete, Washington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2025, following a tragic and still mysterious accident near his home in the woods just a day after celebrating his Grandpa Mike's 80th birthday.

Known to many as Nate or "Nat Nat," Nathan was born on April 30, 2002, in Edmonds, Washington, to James and Sandra (Dods) Cockrum. He was the beloved younger brother of Michael and Laurie, arriving seventeen and fifteen years after them, respectively. Laurie always said he felt like more than a little brother, but not quite a son.

Nathan grew up in Concrete, Washington, side by side with his younger brother and best friend, Kadin, who was born just a year after him. The two were nearly inseparable. He attended elementary, middle, and high school locally, forming lifelong bonds with an incredible group of friends and a few exceptional teachers who left lasting marks on his heart.

For the past two and a half years, Nathan worked at After Hours Customs & Collision in Mount Vernon, a place he spoke of often. He fondly recalled the shop, the team, and the motivational "pep talks" from his "Boss Man." He shared both laughs and life lessons from those days, valuing the camaraderie deeply.

Yet Nathan's true passions lay in music, history, and his relationship with God. He could often be found singing out his upstairs window, strumming his guitar, or wandering into the woods to reflect under his favorite tree. He found peace in nature and purpose in his faith. Time with friends was spent playing cards, engaging in philosophical and biblical debates, and seeking meaning in the world around him. He was a deep soul introspective, compassionate, and always searching for truth. Above all, Nathan knew he was loved deeply and unconditionally.

He is survived by his father, James; his mother, Sandra; his older siblings, Michael Dodd and Laurie Dodd; his younger brother and closest companion, Kadin Cockrum. He also leaves behind the family pets, Felix, Gospel, Smalls, and Tibbs, each of whom shared a special bond with him.

Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, G.W. Frazier; grandmother, Darlene Dods; and uncle, Tim Dods.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life for Nathan.
