Obituary

Peter Voolich, age 68, passed away October 14, 2023, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Bellingham, Washington surrounded by many of his friends and family.  Peter was born June 28, 1955, to Samuel and Donna (Bozanich) Voolich in Doctor's Hospital, Seattle, WA.  On June 29, 2023, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, and metastasized into brain cancer, leading to his death.

Peter attended North Queen Anne School for Kindergarten, St. Margaret's Elementary School and Seattle Preparatory School, class of 1973.  A few years after high school, he went to Shoreline College and received a degree in Business Administration.  Peter had many friends, some of them he attended school with from kindergarten through high school, and many more were friends from kindergarten through elementary school.  These friends were still his friends who came to visit him in the hospital.

In Peter's lifetime he did many things.  Tennis was the sport he loved.  He played on the Seattle Prep varsity tennis team for four years and continued to play both competitively and recreationally for a number of years.  He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends and his wife.  His favorite golf tournament was the annual Seattle Prep Alumni Tournament.  He loved all sports, and his special teams were the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners.

In July of 2000, he married Marcella Schloemer in Hawaii, and they had gone back often to Oahu.

He worked as a rigger for Todd's Shipyards, and for Lockheed.  He worked for them in Seattle, Hawaii, and California.  He commercially fished for many years with his uncles.  He loved being on the water.  But Peter's job, that turned out to be career – was when he purchased "Neighborhood Gutters."  He continued to grow the company until his death.  He loved working with people and built the reputation as an "excellent gutter installation company."  He also was proficient in the building industry, but really only used that trade to help friends and family.  At the time of his death, he was getting ready to retire, never getting to see that day.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Marcella; two step sons, Bjorn Thompson of Billings, Montana and Daric and wife, Laci Thompson of Puyallup, WA; two step-granddaughters, Kylee and Brooke; sister, Sandra 'Sandy' and husband, Mark Magnussen of Olympia, WA; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mikol.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30, Sunday, November 12, 2023, Our Lady of Montserrat Chapel, Seattle Preparatory School, 2400 11 th Ave. E, Seattle, WA  98102.
