Norm Strand, 96, of Concrete, Washington passed away on March 22, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born in Bellingham, Washington on November 26, 1928 to Ted and Lillian Strand. He was married to Delores Bjornstad on his birthday in 1949. Delores passed away in October of 2006.

He is survived by their daughter Myrna (Dale) Woodruff of Anacortes, son Arne (Vivian) Strand of Concrete and son Don (Jennifer) Strand of Sedro Woolley.  Additionally, he is survived by his brother Hank (Shirley) Strand of Bellingham and sister Ellie Anderson of Bellingham. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandpa always referred to the grandkids as "Little Weasel" or "Bowser".

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delores and his son Ron.

Dad enjoyed being in the outdoors and loved to learn new things. He was a logger/owner-operator for over 70 years. From 1970 to 1978 he was on the Concrete City Council and he was Mayor of Concrete from 1978-1989. As Mayor he worked to annex the lower Baker River dam powerhouse which resulted in increased benefits for the town. He was on the Concrete Volunteer Fire Department from 1964-1988.

He loved to jump in his Cadillac and drive down to the mouth of the Baker to spend time fishing and visiting with other fishermen.

It was Dad's job to teach all the kids how to drive at a young age. Myrna and Ron learned how to drive the old yellow Jeep in the pasture behind the house in Acme. Arne and Don started later and learned to drive on steep logging roads going to logging job sites.

Dad loved to take us fishing. In our younger years, we would walk across the Talc Mine bridge on the upper Skagit River. After the bridge collapsed, he piled us in a rubber raft and we'd row across to the other side. The fishing was always better on the other side of the river. The opening day of fishing season each year was always a big family event. He would take us fishing to Baker and Shannon Lakes.

Dad was an engineer at heart and would find ways to build or create tools or repair equipment. He was a problem solver and could fix anything.

Dad instilled in us the values of honesty, hard work and a good joke.  He was always generous with others and his legacy will live on in all of us.

A Graveside Service will be held on April 4, 2025 at Saxon Cemetery (1236 Bowman Rd, Acme, WA) at 1 pm. A gathering will follow at Big Lake.
