Raymond "Chuck" Klingel

Raymond “Chuck” Klingel, age 83, of Everson, Washington, passed away on August 13, 2026. He was born July 18, 1943, in Concrete, Washington, to William and Marie (Quigley) Klingel.

Chuck married Jean Moyer, and together they built a life filled with love, family, hard work, adventure, and more stories than could ever be counted. Chuck was a devoted husband, dad, and perhaps one of his favorite titles of all, “Papa.” He loved his family deeply and took great pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Chuck spent his entire working career in the logging industry, eventually owning and operating his own business. Logging wasn't simply something he did for a living; it was a large part of who he was and provided him with a lifetime of stories he was always more than happy to share.

After retiring from logging, Chuck and Jean began another chapter together, traveling throughout Alaska while commercial fishing. Chuck loved the people they met along the way and the experiences and friendships they shared. When it was finally time to retire from fishing, Chuck found yet another way to stay busy doing something he loved, building custom fishing rods.

But more than anything Chuck did for work, people will remember Chuck himself.

He was a people person through and through, a storyteller like no other, and truly a friend to all. Chuck never met a stranger or anyone he couldn't visit with, tease a little, or tell a story to. He could walk into a room knowing no one and leave having made friends. Even during his final months, that never changed. He continued making friends and entertaining the hospital and care center staff with his stories, humor, and unmistakable personality.

The staff at Christian Health Care Center became part of our family. They cared for Chuck as though he were one of their own, right up until the very end, and our family will forever be grateful for the love, laughter, kindness, and dignity they gave him.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Jean Klingel; daughter, Becki Bodven (Scott); grandchildren, Annie Pearcy, Nikolas Pearcy (Crystal), and Shae Johnson; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Elijah; sister, Sue Francisco; brothers, Manny and John Harris; and sisters-in-law, Maryann Preston of Moses Lake and Susie Queen of Sedro-Woolley. He was blessed to have many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his son, Royce Klingel; daughter, Cathy Klingel; brothers, Bill and Bert; and sisters, Betty and Babe.

Visitation will be held at Lemley Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 19, from 2–4 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Hamilton Cemetery on Thursday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m.

Those who knew Chuck will remember his stories, his humor, his love of people, and his ability to make a friend wherever he went. There will never be another quite like him.
