Reginald W. Hunter, a beloved member of the Upper Skagit Tribe, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on February 3, 1935, in Neah Bay, WA, Reginald's life was marked by service, hard work, and deep connections with his family and community. Raised by his grandparents, Harry and Jessie Moses, he carried their values throughout his life.
A proud Marine Corp veteran, Reginald served in the Philippines and Hawaii from 1953 to 1961. "Reggie" had a brief boxing career, contributed to the construction of the Alaska pipeline, and worked as a logger, demonstrating his strong work ethic and resilience. Reginald had a gift for making immediate connections with people, and he was deeply cherished by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Reginald is survived by his sons, Andrew and Sonny; daughters, Andrea and Dawn; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; siblings, Shubert, Arnie, and Lorraine; son, Gary; daughter, Jennifer.
A service to honor and celebrate Reginald's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Upper Skagit Tribal Gym in Sedro Woolley. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Share your memories of Reginald and sign the online guest register.
