Rex "Dan" Parker, age 87, passed away at home in Concrete, Washington.  He was born January 30, 1937, in Garden City, Kansas, to Dow and Thelma Parker.  They moved up to Skagit County when Dan was a baby, and he grew up on a farm on the South Skagit side of the highway, off the Skagit River.  Along with his siblings, Jack, Donny and Jim, Dan attended Concrete Schools until 1955, when he graduated from Concrete High School.  Dan Parker was married to his longtime wife, Frances Ann Parker on March 6, 1970, in Bellingham, WA.

Dan held a variety of professions.  He worked as a police officer for the town of Concrete, drove a log truck, cut shake-blocks and retired as a cabinet builder at This N That Handcraft, which he owned and operated.  He also flew out shake-blocks on the hook of his own privately owned helicopter, along with operating the Rockport ferry located on the Skagit River.

Dan enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.  This included going camping, watching westerns, sitting about telling tall tales, hunting, fishing and watching his grandchildren play sports.  He was a club officer, a member of the national honor society, and a standout football player in high school.

Dan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Ann Parker; children, Rachel Graybill Parker, Aaron (Hildi) Parker, Denise Curtis and Larry Parker; grandchildren, Brandon Taylor, Damon (Carley) Graybill, Erika Parker, Nickolas (Paige) Parker, Danielle Graybill, Ashley Parker, Tyler Graybill; great grandchildren, Callahan Parker, Quinn Parker; siblings, Jim (Alice) Parker; pets, Huntley, Buster, Turbo, Goose, and Raven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dow and Thelma Parker; siblings, Jack Parker and Donny Parker; niece, Shirley Benton; in-laws, Jesse, and Elsie Ingersoll.
