Robert “Mac”
Mccaffree
Sep 3, 1946 — Dec 20, 2025
Robert Eugene McCaffree, 79, of Sedro-Woolley, Washington passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Life Care of Skagit Valley, surrounded by his loving daughters. During his time there, Bob truly became part of the Life Care family, cherished by both staff and residents.
Better known as "Bob" or "Mac," he was born on September 3, 1946, in Snoqualmie, WA, the son of Robert C. and Lorella F. (Wakstrom) McCaffree.
Mac was a man of many talents and traits. Over the years, he worked in a wide range of roles, including serving in the military, performing hazmat removal, and driving rail conductors to and from their stations. No matter the job, Mac always had a story to share a few perhaps lovingly embellished like "the one that got away" or that legendary "59 golf score." Above all else, Mac loved his family. He treasured time spent together and especially enjoyed family gatherings filled with good food, great conversations, a good game of cribbage, and the company of those he loved most.
Mac is survived by his four daughters, Kim (Chad) Neff, Sue (Marrio) Thomas, Laurie (Phil) Gilbert, Vera (Vaughn) Burgess; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Sheri) McCaffree, and Ted (Cheri) McCaffree; sister, Sue (McCaffree) Winney; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorella McCaffree; sister, Claudia (McCaffree) Osberg; beloved nephews, Will Osberg and Trevor McCaffree.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley for their exceptional care of their father over the past five years, as well as Hospice of the Northwest, whose compassion and support at the end were truly exceptional.
A Celebration of Life for Mac will be held at 1:00, on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Lemley Chapel, 1008 Third St., Sedro-Woolley, WA, with Pastor Jim Cannon officiating. A private family inurnment with Military Honors will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA at a later date. Share your memories of Mac and sign the online guest register.
