Russell "Rusty" "Russ" Jay Farstead, age 60, passed away peacefully at his home in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, on Saturday, August 20, 2022.  Rusty was born May 5, 1962 in Billings, Montana.

Rusty obtained his bachelor's degree in Industrial Arts at Montana State University Northern in Havre, Montana.  Then he moved to Washington State where he worked for the Boeing Company until retirement in 2017.

Rusty was an avid outdoorsman, camping frequently in his RV with his wife, Cindy, and their dogs.  He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and shrimping in the beautiful Northwest waterways, and was recently elected the President of the Wildcat Steelhead Club of Sedro-Woolley.

Rusty had a passion for vehicles and often could be found in his shop restoring his classic 1962 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova or at the Northwest Bombers diesel club souping up his diesel 4×4 truck.

Rusty was a jack-of-all-trades, trained as a carpenter, self-taught mechanic, and confident handyman consistently improving the retirement dream home for him and his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Mailliard; stepdaughter, Misty (Cory) Nahoopii; sister, Debbie Farstead; brother, Dave (Nita) Farstead; 13 nieces and nephews; 17 great nieces and nephews; 3 great-great nieces and nephew; his 4-legged children, Lucy (dog), Peanut (dog), and Duchess (cat).

Rusty is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Delores Farstead; brother, Steve Farstead.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00, on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the Riverfront Park in Sedro-Woolley, WA.  The family requests any memorial be directed to the Humane Society of Skagit Valley in Burlington, WA. Share your memories of Rusty and sign the online guest register.
