Obituary

Sherry Dianne Pleasant, a woman of unwavering strength, a beautiful soul with a sweet and loving heart of gold has passed away surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply.

While our hearts on earth are broken, we find peace knowing she is embraced in God's arms, free from pain and worry.

Born in Brownfield, Texas, to the late Junior Ethridge Johnson and Billie Jean Meyers, Sherry's life was defined by a 57-year love story with her high school sweetheart and husband, Kenneth Pleasant.

Together, they shared a lifetime of adventure from traveling to new places to fishing for salmon on the banks of the Skagit River, watching football games, hanging out with their chickens. They shared a mutual love for music and could frequently be found singing together.

Sherry was a "warrior" in every sense, battling cancer three times in her life. In every struggle, she remained a beacon of light, offering a sweet smile and polite, thankful words to everyone she met.

Sherry's nurturing spirit extended to her career. She retired from Skagit Gardens in Mount Vernon after 28 years as the Propagation Manager. Her love for growing things continued at home in her garden and greenhouse.

Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she served up the very best Texas BBQ, her famous rolls, and "Grammy soup." She found immense joy in the simple things: playing cards and giggling with Cheryl Pleasant, Shop Night with Mary Tenbrink, Donna Cave, and the crew, and canning salsa with all the family. By her side through it all was her faithful furry guardian, Mojo, who was never far from her side.

To her children, Sherry was the very best mother one could hope for a constant source of warm embraces and encouragement. She loved and supported them through every milestone and accomplishment in their lives. Always there with love and kindness, putting everyone's needs above her own.

She cherished every memory made with her family, and if a grandchild had an event, "Grandpa and Grandma" were sure to be there watching.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Jimmy Johnson and Rita Schmidt.

Her legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Ken; her children, Alecia Soule (David) and Ken Pleasant Jr. (Heather); her four grandchildren, Justin Soule (Meliza), Jordan Soule (Katie), Hazel Pleasant, and Hanna Pleasant (Garth); and her six beloved great-grandchildren, Ember, Levi, Asher, Lynden, Bradley, and Saylum.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley, WA, with Pastor Jim Cannon officiating.
