Obituary

Thomas Norman Lisherness, age 79, of Duvall, Washington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024.  Tom was born on December 20, 1944, to Norman and Jeanne (Fahey) Lisherness in Sedro-Woolley, WA.

Tom graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School and attended Skagit Valley College.  He was not only a star athlete in basketball, cross country and golf during his high school years, but he also went on to become a successful business owner.  He founded Woodwright Construction, a testament to his craftsmanship and dedication.  His woodworking skills were not just a profession but a passion that created beautiful pieces treasured by his family.

On May 1, 1993, Tom married the love of his life, Dorothy Coates.  His children and grandchildren were the source of his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Tom was a man of many admirable qualities.  His kindness, honesty, and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him.  He was a hardworking individual, always ready to lend a helping hand.  His quick wit and unmatched intelligence were a constant source of joy for those around him.  He had a deep love for music and the outdoors, spending time fishing or going on drives to explore the beauty of nature.  After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking, and playing ping pong.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lisherness of Duvall; daughter, Shanna (Scott) Lisherness Griffin of Woodinville; Dorothy's children, Tim, David (Candi) and Susan Cope; grandchildren, Oliver, Charlie, Bryana, Ashley, AJ, Ryan, Randy, Josh, Natosha and Randy; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Norma, Pat, Cathy and Joe Lisherness

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman; mother, Jeanne; siblings, Jim, Maureen and Cecilia.

Tom passed peacefully at home with family by his side.  Tom's kindness, humor and loving guidance will be greatly missed.  He was a beacon for our family.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11:00 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley, Committal will follow immediately after at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley; reception following at the church hall.  A Viewing will be available at Lemley Chapel on Friday, from 9 to 5, and at church on Monday before the funeral from 9:15 to 10:15.  Please share your memories of Tom and sign the online guest register.
