Tom “Jack” Dee Stokes passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to his country, his work, and, above all, his family.
Born in Monterey, California, Jack grew up in the tight-knit town of Concrete, Washington, where he spent his youth before enlisting in the United States Navy. His military service not only shaped his character but also brought him to the love of his life, Sharon. The two were married in November 1968 and began their life together in Southern California, where they welcomed and raised their two children, Shannon and Anthony (Tony).
Seeking a return to the Pacific Northwest, Jack and Sharon later relocated to Skagit County, Washington, where Jack built a dedicated career working at the local refinery. An avid outdoorsman, Jack was happiest when fishing, traveling, or simply taking in the beauty of nature.
Jack is survived by his loving daughter, Shannon Proctor, her husband Brian, and their four cherished daughters; daughter-in-law, Erin Stokes; sister, Diane Hopkins, her husband Jack, and their family; sister-in-law, Pamala Kryda, and her husband Frank; brothers-in-law, Frank (and wife Venice) and Jon Newling, alongside their families.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon, and son, Anthony (Tony) Stokes.
Jack will be laid to rest with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Please share your memories and condolences with the family.
