William "Billy" Baxter Ensley, 75, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was born on December 14, 1949.

Billy grew up in Sedro-Woolley alongside his two brothers and six sisters. While in high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was soon deployed to Vietnam. Following his return, he married Jonni in 1971, and they welcomed their son, Gale. In 1977, he married Betty, and two more children joined his life: Shawn (1978) and Heather (1982).  In 2012, he married Cynthia, a lifelong friend he had known since childhood. Cynthia cared for Billy with extraordinary love and devotion, remaining faithfully by his side until the end.

Billy worked in road construction for many years and took great pride in building several notable bridges in the area. He was known among his coworkers for his strong work ethic and leadership.

A loyal friend and a generous soul, Billy was the kind of man who'd give you the shirt off his back even if it had holes in the elbows. He had a wild, adventurous spirit and often seemed to live life with nine lives to spare. Whether jumping off cliffs, racing down highways, or braving the wildest carnival rides, Billy lived boldly. He loved to swim in rivers, and when the local waters were too cold, he'd head east just to take a dip.

In his later years, he found joy and pride in restoring his Mustang. He loved to show it off.

Billy is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ensley; his sons Shawn (Stacie) Ensley and Gale (Natalie) Ensley; daughter Heather (Art) Rodriguez; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mable and T.J. Griffin; his brother, James Ensley; and sister, Bobbie Fox.
